A beautiful silver collection

Bruun Rasmussen’s silver department offers a selection of beautiful sets of cutlery, including ”Royal Pattern”, ”Cactus”, ”Cypres”, ”Bernadotte” and ”Caravel”. The latter of these was designed by Henning Koppel. It was designed in 1957, named after the French jet plane "Caravelle", which SAS acquired that same year. This set of cutlery soon became very popular and in 1963 it won Henning Koppel the prestigious German prize “Der Goldene Löffel”. A complete set for six persons will come under the hammer at the auction. Several of the items offered for sale here are no longer in production today.

The auction also features a small, but very interesting collection of Georg Jensen silverware, deriving the collection of Miss Andrea Margrethe Kjergaard, Managing Clerk. She was the first woman to work at Georg Jensen’s. In an old photo from 1924, reproduced in a publication celebrating the 40th anniversary of the company, Miss Kjergaard sits next to Georg Jensen himself, surrounded by managers and chief designers, each holding up a small glass on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the company. By way of her position, Miss Kjergaard became a close friend of Harald Nielsen who is also the man behind most of the items in her collection. These items all derive from her collection.

If you are looking for Russian silver, the auction presents a choice between a silver-gilt rococo standing cup and cover made in Moscow in 1756, a beautiful table mirror with facetted glass made by the master Pawel Fedorowitsch Sasikow in Moscow in 1858, and a set of wedding spoons in gilt silver, stamped Nikolai Lukitsch Dubrowin, Moscow 1830 and 1831.
