Mogens Krüger's pewter collection
|
One of the most significant and well-documented Scandinavian collections of pewter is now offered for sale at Bruun Rasmussen's online auction No. 849.
From 1996 to 2006, Mogens Krüger established an admirably coherent collection of pewter. The collection is considered to be one of the most important collections of its kind in Scandinavia. With his truly impressive knowledge of the field, Mogens Krüger has documented it in his books and at his website. Mogens Krüger was a familiar face at antique dealers and auction houses, in Denmark and abroad, where he found historically interesting as well as the extremely rare and valuable pewter items. The bulk of his acquisitions, and hence the heart of the collection, is made up of German, Swedish and Danish pewter, however. Sadly, Mogens Krüger fell ill and died, and the collection is now in the care of Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art where it is offered for sale at an online auction held Tuesday, December 4th commencing at 6.00 pm. The preview will take place at our Harbour facilities as of 22 November, although the items will be exhibited in Bredgade 33 from November 12th to 16th on the occasion of Tresòr Auction No. 795 and 796.
