The history of Bruun Rasmussen
|
Whether it be specialist knowledge, market insight, or the valuation of art, antiques, furniture and household effects, and collections that you require, Bruun Rasmussen is at your disposal with expert assistance from the most competent and experienced staff in the business. Moreover, the house can draw on the largest private specialist library in the country and on a considerable network to international experts and museums. About Bruun RasmussenIt all started at Bredgade in Copenhagen when Arne Bruun Rasmussen brought down the ivory hammer for the first time on 6 October 1948. In 1990, Bruun Rasmussen also opened for business in Vejle, where it acquired Børge Nielsen Auctions, which was founded in 1953. In October 1999, the doors opened on yet another exciting auction house – Havnen – on the Copenhagen waterfront. At the international level, Bruun Rasmussen is represented in the France, Spain, Italy, England and USA. We are proud of the position we have achieved both at home and around the world, and our aim is at all times to promote the image of Bruun Rasmussen as being Scandinavia’s most sought-after, trustworthy and attractive auction house with the highest levels of expertise relative to the valuation and purchase and sale of art, antiques and furniture and household effects. We also aim to constantly add to our knowledge of art and antiques as a prerequisite of an auction house of international stature. For several decades we have been dealing in a particularly broad selection of articles of value from furniture, paintings and modern design to silver, carpets and wine, etc. Bruun Rasmussen annually holds more than 40 auctions with about 65,000 lots, and at national level we hold more than 100 auction days per year. Together with their other valuation tasks the auction house’s valuers make at least a quarter of a million valuations every year. Bruun Rasmussen as recognized brokerFor nearly 60 years, Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art have been internationally recognized brokers of objets d’art, a position we have achieved by acting as competent collaborative partners for both buyer and seller. An all-round selection, a certain knowledge of styles and the historical characteristics of the individual items along with comprehensive knowledge of legal and statutory requirements has resulted in our house attracting an ever widening clientele.
